Word from the Patron

The transition from Primary school to Secondary school comes with pressures and the desire to engage in new behavior.

That new behavior could be experimenting with alcohol and marijuana. Furthermore, increase in underage drinking is common in secondary and primary schools; the starting age is now dropping to the infants influenced by their parents.

Marijuana is also increasingly getting into the hands of more primary scholars. Especially due to the need to fit in groups of boys and girls in school, curiosity to get better than others academically cannot be ignored as well.

It's thus equally as important to avoid getting too stressed by schoolwork. Don't let academic pressure weigh you down because it can trigger opportunities to try drugs.

Parents should always be open to communicating with their children, as well as knowing what they're doing with social media e.g. internet, radios, televisions, and music especially media that promotes drug use.

The youth deserve parents who are empowered to give their children clear direction, discipline, and the courage to refuse drugs.

Traditional support mechanisms for families must reinforce the values, the attitudes and the life style for a drug-free world.

There's also the connection between bullying and substance abuse in schools.

Many bullies are past victims of bullying themselves, and so depression and isolation from bullying can lead teens to self-medicate through drugs or alcohol.

Bullies aren't born but they're made. And this is because of different social reasons especially in schools; it is caused by change of environment, age, size, adolescence among other factors.

"Be yourself." And "Don't let others influence you and change who you really are,"

“Just Say No” as the club motto says.

“Live an exemplary life to change others”
